How to merge PDFs with this tool

A worked example
Say you have a two page contract and a three page appendix. Add both files, move the contract to the top, and the merged download is a single five page PDF: the contract as pages 1 and 2, the appendix as pages 3 through 5. Page sizes are preserved individually, so a letter size contract and an A4 appendix each keep their own dimensions in the combined file. If a signature page needs to go last, move it to the bottom of the list before merging.
Why your files never leave your computer
Most online PDF mergers upload your documents to a server, combine them there, and hand you back a download. That is a strange thing to accept for contracts, medical records, or bank statements. This tool works differently. The merge is performed by the pdf-lib library running inside your own browser tab: pages are copied losslessly from your source files into a new document in memory, then saved straight to your downloads folder. Close the tab and every trace of the files is gone. A side benefit is that the merge still works if your internet connection drops after the page has loaded.
Honest limitations
Password protected PDFs will not open here; remove the password first in the program that created the file. Merging copies pages exactly as they are, so it never shrinks anything. Combining two 40 MB scans gives you roughly an 80 MB file, and if size matters you should run images through the image compressor on this site before building the PDF. For the same reason this tool cannot repair a damaged file: a PDF that will not open in a normal reader will not merge either.

Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. The merge happens inside your browser using JavaScript. The combined file is assembled on your device — we never receive, see, or store your documents.
Is there a file size or page limit?
The practical limit is your device's memory. Merging a few hundred pages works fine on a normal laptop; extremely large scans may be slow on older phones.
Will the merged PDF keep quality and formatting?
Yes. Pages are copied losslessly — no re-rendering, no compression, no watermark. Text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution.
Can I change the order of files before merging?
Yes. Use the up and down arrows on each file in the list; the merged output follows the list order top to bottom.
